One of the more interesting projects currently under development is a new item history system designed to give valuable items a permanent identity within the game world.

Traditionally, most MMORPG items only exist in the moment. You find them, trade them, upgrade them and eventually replace them. Once they are gone, their history disappears with them.

We’re taking a different approach.

Work has continued on systems that allow important items to maintain a unique identity throughout their lifetime. This will allow us to track ownership changes, upgrades, repairs, trades and other significant events as an item moves through the world.

The long-term goal is to make it possible to view the history of rare and valuable items through the website, allowing players to see where an item came from, how it was obtained and how it has evolved over time.

Not only does this create interesting stories around rare equipment, it also provides powerful support and auditing tools that help improve transparency and reliability across the server.

While there is still work to do, the foundations are now being built for a future where every legendary item has a story worth telling.
