The Mir Vengeance Exchange System is the modern evolution of the classic Trust Merchant concept familiar to many Legend of Mir players.
While preserving the simplicity of player-to-player trading, the Exchange introduces a structured marketplace designed to support fixed-price sales, competitive bidding, and long-term economic growth.
Built on top of the server’s SQL-first architecture, the Exchange provides a reliable and scalable trading platform for the entire game world.
Inspired By The Classic Trust Merchant
For many years, Trust Merchants have been a core part of the Legend of Mir trading experience.
They allowed players to buy and sell items without needing to remain online, creating an early form of player-driven economy.
Mir Vengeance expands upon this idea by introducing additional trading tools while retaining the familiar principles that made Trust Merchants successful.
Buy Now Listings
Players can list items for immediate purchase through fixed-price listings.
This allows buyers to instantly acquire the items they need while providing sellers with a convenient method of trading without requiring direct interaction.
The system automatically handles ownership transfers and transaction processing once a sale is completed.
Auction and Bidding System
Items listed on the Exchange are automatically entered into the auction system. The listed price acts as the Buy Now price, while bidding opens at 20% of that value.
Unlike traditional Trust Merchant systems, every Exchange listing in Mir Vengeance automatically supports both direct purchase and bidding.
The listed price becomes the Buy Now value, while bidding begins at 20% of the listed price. This allows the market to determine an item’s true value based on factors such as player demand, server population, time of day, and current economic conditions.
All listings are limited to 24 hours and the listing fee is charged immediately when the item is placed on the Exchange. This ensures that items appearing on the Exchange are genuine sale listings rather than long-term advertisements or unofficial storage.
The result is a more active marketplace where prices naturally adjust to supply and demand, items continue to circulate through the economy, and sellers are encouraged to list goods at realistic values rather than simply posting them indefinitely at maximum price.
Auctions can be view outside of the game here.
This creates a more dynamic economy while providing opportunities for rare and highly sought-after items to find their true market value.
SQL-Driven Trading Infrastructure
Unlike traditional Trust Merchant implementations, the Exchange is backed by the same SQL infrastructure that powers the rest of Mir Vengeance.
This provides:
- Reliable item custody
- Transaction validation
- Historical tracking
- Improved recovery procedures
- Enhanced scalability
- Detailed marketplace statistics
The result is a trading environment designed for long-term stability and growth.
Supporting A Player-Driven Economy
The Exchange serves as a central hub for economic activity throughout the game.
Whether trading equipment, crafting materials, rare drops, collectibles, or event rewards, players have access to a consistent marketplace that operates around the clock.
This encourages economic participation and helps establish market-driven pricing across the server.
Economic Transparency
Because all Exchange activity is processed through the central trading platform, aggregate statistics can be collected and analysed over time.
Examples include:
- Trading volume
- Most traded items
- Auction activity
- Market trends
- Economic growth indicators
These insights help players understand the state of the economy while assisting staff in maintaining long-term balance.
Built For The Future
The Exchange System is more than a replacement for the traditional Trust Merchant.
It provides the foundation for a modern player-driven marketplace while preserving the trading freedom that has always been a defining feature of Legend of Mir.
As Mir Vengeance continues to evolve, the Exchange will remain a central part of the server’s economy and one of the primary ways players interact with each other through trade.
