One of the biggest projects currently underway at Mir Vengeance is something most players will never directly see.
The server itself.
The original Mir servers were built around binary files, flat-file databases, and systems that were designed over twenty years ago. While they worked well at the time, they make development, balancing, and tracking player activity far more difficult than it needs to be today.
Over the past few months, we have been migrating huge sections of the server to a modern SQL-driven architecture.
What does this mean for players?
- Faster bug fixing
- Better item tracking
- Improved character data integrity
- More reliable backups
- Better protection against item duplication exploits
- The foundation for future features
Thousands of lines of legacy code have been reviewed, cleaned up, and documented. New systems are being designed with long-term stability in mind rather than short-term fixes.
While it may not be as exciting as a new dungeon or boss, these improvements are helping build a stronger foundation for the future of Mir Vengeance.
The goal remains simple: preserve the classic Mir experience while giving the server modern reliability behind the scenes.
