A significant portion of development this week has focused on the continued modernisation of the server database systems.

Like many long-running Legend of Mir projects, parts of the server still contained older logic and structures that had evolved over many years. While these systems worked, they often made future development more difficult and increased the risk of unexpected issues appearing as new features were added.

The goal of the current work is simple: create a cleaner, more consistent platform that can support future content, improved auditing and advanced website integration.

Several systems have been reviewed and updated as part of this process, with particular attention being given to character data, item ownership and persistence handling.

Although database work is rarely the most exciting aspect of MMORPG development, it forms the backbone of the entire game. Every character, item, quest and transaction ultimately depends on reliable data being stored and retrieved correctly.

These improvements are helping us move towards a fully SQL-driven architecture that will make the server easier to maintain, easier to expand and more resilient over the long term.

Many of these changes will never be visible to players directly, but they provide the foundation required for future features including advanced item tracking, player statistics, achievement systems and improved web services.

Development continues daily as we work towards creating the most stable and feature-rich version of Legend of Mir possible.
