Work continued on the fishing system today as we look to add more variety to activities outside of traditional monster hunting.

Fishing has always been one of those systems that can either feel completely pointless or become an important part of the game world. Our goal is to make it worthwhile without turning it into the only activity players ever want to do.

Several improvements have been made behind the scenes to support future expansion, including better reward handling, item generation and integration with the wider economy.

Long term, we’d like fishing to offer players another way to earn rewards, discover useful items and participate in the world without simply grinding monsters for hours on end.

As with many of the systems currently under development, the foundations are being built first. Getting the underlying mechanics right now makes it much easier to expand the feature later with new fish, rewards, events and NPC interactions.

We’ve also continued work on ensuring that items generated through activities such as fishing, mining and crafting are handled consistently throughout the server, helping to improve reliability and future support tools.

While there is still plenty of work ahead, fishing is steadily evolving from a simple side activity into a more meaningful part of the overall Legend of Mir experience.
