THE HUNT CONTINUES
The main story · Mir Vengeance · Closed beta now, live from day one
Dust on the throne. Dust on the three small chairs beside it.
When the war reached the moat, Emperor Far sent the Queen and both princes down into the mountain, with an old miner and a handful of lanterns. Nobody came back up. That was three years ago.
That is all I'm going to tell you about the story. The rest is yours to find.
What it is
- 12 chapters, from level 1 to level 62, for every class.
- It is pinned to the top of your quest diary. Start at the Empty Throne in the Bichon palace.
- Every step tells you exactly what it wants, with a counter, e.g. (2/5). If you are stuck, the diary will say why.
- It is the spine of the game. Side quests, caves and events hang off it, but this is the one that runs from your first day to the end of your character.
It uses the whole game, on purpose
Most private servers have a hundred systems and players find out about half of them by accident. The story was built against a checklist of every feature on the server. If a system exists, the story sends you to it at some point, at a level where it makes sense.
Without giving away where or why, the road takes you through:
- Hunting and caves. Every province, the caves and the hells beneath them. King's rooms (yes, all of them), cave speed runs against the clock, and the Mystery Cave.
- Living in Mir. Fishing, mining, harvesting, crafting, refining, upgrading, awakening, disassembling. Mounts and feeding them. Heroes. Intelligent creatures.
- Other people. Friends, groups, hunting side by side, guilds, trading, mail, mentoring, marriage. Some PvP. A bounty or two.
- The economy. NPC shops, storage, buy-back, the Exchange (browse, sell and buy), item rental, the lottery, a few hands at the casino.
- The little things. Scrolls, potions, buffs, perks, shouting, voice chat, rankings, inspecting someone's kit, the daily gift.
- Outside the game. A few steps happen on mirvengeance.com: your account, the forum, your public profile. They count in game within a minute.
You don't need to read a guide first. By the time you finish, you'll have used everything at least once, and you'll know which bits you love.
Mir does not hurry
This is not a weekend's work, and it isn't meant to be.
- Weather. Some hunts only count in the rain, the mist or the snow, and only where you are standing. Use the weather forecast.
- Days and hours. Some people only talk on certain days, or late at night. All times are UK time.
- Coming back. Some steps want you on different days, or several days in a row. Some want time spent in the world.
- Walking. Some roads have to be walked. No mount, no teleport.
- Hunting. Around ten thousand kills across the story, plus the bosses. It levels you as you go.
Somebody will try to speed run it. Good luck to them. The weather and the calendar don't care how fast you click.
Bring friends
Mir was never a single-player game. A handful of steps need another player: someone to group with, someone to trade with, someone to fight. One step needs someone who'll say yes. Make friends early.
No money, no shortcuts
- Nothing in the story needs real money. The GameShop is MVCP only, some items cost 1 MVCP, and MVCP can be earned by playing and sharing your character pages.
- Story items are bound to you. They can't be bought, sold or traded, and nothing in the shop moves the story along.
What the hunt leaves you
- Experience and gold at every step.
- An achievement for every chapter you close, on your profile and on the website.
- For those who see it to the end, the Yellow Dragon. It follows its bearer for good. Nothing else in the game gives it, and no amount of gold or MVCP will buy it.
Follow the hunt
The story page has the Awakening video, the chapters, and a live board of who is furthest along. Chapters stay sealed until the first hunter reaches them, and that hunter's name goes on the chapter.
It is on the closed beta now. Beta progress is wiped with everything else before launch, so the race for the first names starts properly on Saturday 24 October 2026 · 09:00 UK.
Please don't post spoilers in this thread. If a step doesn't count when it should, reply with your character name, the step, and a screenshot of the diary.
